What Personal Data We Collect and Why

Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (hash) from your email may be sent to the Gravatar service.
Gravatar Privacy Policy

After comment approval, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images, avoid uploading photos with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from such images.

Cookies

  • Leaving a comment: may store your name, email, and website in cookies for 1 year.
  • Visiting the login page: sets a temporary cookie to test browser compatibility.
  • Logging in: sets cookies for login and screen options. “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for 2 weeks.
  • Editing or publishing content: saves a cookie with the post ID, which expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). These behave exactly as if you visited the external site, which may collect data and track your interaction.

We collect the following when users RSVP or purchase event tickets:

Venue / Organizer / Event Info

If you submit events, we may store:

  • Venue: name, address, contact info, coordinates
  • Organizer: name, email, phone, website
  • Event: title, date, cost, description, media

If you import from external sources (Eventbrite, Meetup, etc.), associated data may also be collected.

API Keys

We use third-party services to provide features:
